Update
Well, as of Saturday I completed the one week juice fast.
Here are the results
Results
Day 6: 154.0 lbs
Day 7: 152.0 lbs
Day 6 was a total shock to me!! It appeared that I spoke too soon about seeing a decline. Well I must admit that it didn't help that I had cheesecake late at night. My BMI is now down to about 24.57 which is good, but I would like to get it down lower.
Conclusion
It appears at least in my case that if I don't eat real late, then juicing one a day can help a little bit in losing weight. So juicing one meal per day may give me a burst of energy, but I must do more than that in order to lose and keep any excess weight off. Not a shocking conclusion I'm sure. Well, there you have it. My experiment is now complete.

Update - One Week Weight Loss
Progress
I've been drinking a juice consisting of 1/3 cantaloupe and 4 carrots everyday since this Sunday. I decided to make this drink a breakfast replacement. I find that after juicing that I get a quick burst of energy. I am really loving the taste of cantaloupe juice. Well I will give you the weight results from the last three days.
My Weight
Day 3: 154.5 lbs
Day 4: 153.0 lbs
Day 5: 152.0 lbs
So far it would appear that the juicing is working. Let's see how the rest of the week goes. Only two more days!!!

One Week Weight Loss Trial
Weight loss is something that many of us can relate to. Whether it's those extra pesky pounds or several pounds, weight loss is something that affects many people.
Why am I losing weight?
The reason that I'm losing weight is because of a calculation of my BMI. (Body Mass Index). It's an indicator to determine whether or not your weight is at a healthy level. To calculate your BMI, multiply your weight(in pounds) by 704, then divide that by your height (in inches) squared. For example let's say that you weight 180 lbs and your height is 5'10". Convert 5'10" into inches. 5 feet = 60 inches. So all together you'd be 70 inches tall. Plug into the formula: (180 x 704) / (70 x 70) and you'll get about 25.86.
Here are the BMI ranges:
Underweight is < 18.5
Normal is 18.5 - 24.9
Overweight is 25 - 29.9
Obese is > 30
My BMI right now is at 25.37.
Weight Loss Method
All I would need to do is to lose about three pounds to be within the normal BMI range for someone my height. To do that, I'm conducting a one week trial. In the trial I am going to use a juicing recipe by Jay Kordich. You maybe remember him as "The Juiceman". For those of you unfamiliar with what juicing is, it's simply using a machine that takes fruits and vegetables and converts them into liquid form.
The recipe
1/3 of a cantaloupe
4 carrots
I will drink this once a day for an entire week. Not sure if I should use this as a meal replacement because I'm not really a big breakfast person and having something in your system in the morning is better than having nothing. While I may not post on this topic everyday, I will keep you informed of the progress or lack thereof. Wish me luck.

Why Patti LaBelle is the best singer of all time.
You’ve heard of her before. Grammy award winning singer Patti LaBelle. She has sold millions of records. She is sixty five and still performing to sold out venues. There is no one like her. I’m going to give you my take as to why I think she is the best singer of all time.
First of all she has been around since 1962. First, think of all the musical artists out there. Now, think of how many artists can say that they’ve been around since the early 1960s and still performing. She’s spanned nearly FIVE DECADES. Not that many artists can claim that. In order to survive she’s altered her musical persona.
First she started out in an all-girl group singing ballads. Then in the seventies she removed the prom girl like dresses, to outrageous space like costumes worn by her and her group Labelle. Then in the 1980s, the decade that catapulted her into her superstar status, she had a plethora of hair styles. Remember the bucket and the fan? In the 1990s and even today, she wears more relaxed hairstyles.
Secondly, she has a wide vocal range. She can sing some low notes and some high notes. Listen to her modulate in the song When You’ve Been Blessed, (Feels Like Heaven). Rewind further back to You’ll Never Walk Alone when she sings the last refrain. Can Beyonce’ sing as high as Patti? How about Ashlee Simpson, Brittney Spears, or even Aretha Frankin?
Although these are great performers, they can’t sing as high as Patti can. Try singing the high part on the song If Only You Knew in Patti’s key. Listen to her sing If Only For One Night on her television special to get a taste of her lower range.
Third, she knows how to connect with an audience. If you watched American Idol, the winner was able to connect with the audience. One of the judges mentioned that to connect with an audience is a key to being a superstar.
When Patti performs a song, the audience knows that she is singing from her heart. Listen to her sing slow ballads. I’m going to use If Only You Knew. She makes you feel like that she is trying to actually tell her crush how she feels. Or take the duet Superwoman with Gladys Knight and Dionne Warwick.
You actually feel the emotions Patti displays when she’s singing about a man who makes her feel unappreciated or the classic live version of the song You Are My Friend. Her powerhouse voice can get ANY audience jumping up on its feet in reverential applause of her raw talent.
Tag on the fact that she can hold a note for a long time. In her remake of The Dells hit Stay in My Corner, she held a note longer than the original singer. Add some down to earth charm, (She says, “I’m like you only I happen to make records.”) and you have the ultimate singer of all time.
